Accessability Statement

Introduction

At Global Choices, adding to life means everyone. We are committed to making our website usable by all people - including those living with disabilities.

Our Commitement

Global Choices Lifestyle (Pty) Ltd is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, regardless of ability, device, or assistive technology. Accessibility is part of how we live our #addingtolife promise: anyone who needs our help should be able to reach us, understand our services, and get in touch - quickly and without barriers.

Standards We Follow

We aim to conform to the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These international guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities - including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive and neurological disabilities.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the benchmark referenced in South African accessibility guidance, including the South African National Standard SANS 1796, and is widely recognised internationally as the standard of good practice.

Our Commitment Under South African Law

Our approach to accessibility is guided by South Africa's constitutional and legislative framework, including:

  • Section 9 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, which guarantees equality and prohibits unfair discrimination, including on the grounds of disability.

  • The Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act 4 of 2000 (PEPUDA, or the “Equality Act”).

  • The Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA), which supports the right of access to information held by public and private bodies.

  • The White Paper on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2016).

  • The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which South Africa ratified in 2007.

We also process any personal information you share with us in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What We Do to Support Accessibility

Steps we take to make this website more accessible include:

  • Structuring content with clear headings, a logical reading order, and descriptive links.

  • Providing text alternatives (alt text) for meaningful images.

  • Maintaining sufficient colour contrast, in line with our brand palette (navy #143359 and orange).

  • Ensuring the site can be navigated by keyboard and works with common screen readers.

  • Designing responsively so the site works across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

  • Using clear, plain language, and showing our 24-hour assistance contact details on every page.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible, and we are actively working to identify and resolve any barriers. Certain third-party or embedded content (for example, animations or maps) may not always meet the same standards. Where this is the case, please contact us and we will help you access the information or service you need directly.
